Material Compatibility Guide

We use a needle and thread — no heat, no adhesive. Whether your bag works depends on how a sewing needle can pass through the material.

Material Accepted Notes
Canvas ✅ Yes Ideal — holds stitching well
Denim ✅ Yes Ideal — classic patch material
Cotton / fabric ✅ Yes Works well for most woven fabrics
Nylon ✅ Yes Accepted; needle holes are small and typically blend in
Faux leather (PU / vegan leather) ⚠️ Case-by-case Needle holes are permanent and visible on faux leather. We review each bag before confirming. Contact us first.
Genuine leather ⚠️ Case-by-case Stitching through leather leaves permanent needle holes. We assess thickness and finish before accepting. Contact us first.
Hard-sided / rigid bags ❌ Not accepted Cannot be sewn through
Clear / PVC game-day bags ⚠️ Limited Patches can be sewn onto fabric trim or straps only — not the clear panel. Contact us to confirm placement options.

Why Sewn-On — Not Glued or Ironed?

We sew every patch by hand or machine — no iron-on adhesive, no fabric glue. Here's why that matters:

  • Adhesive patches peel. Heat and humidity break down glue over time, especially on bags that flex with use.
  • Iron-on heat can damage bag linings and coated materials.
  • Stitching is structurally part of the bag. It holds under daily wear, travel, and washing (for fabric bags).

What "permanent" means for your bag: Sewn patches leave small needle holes in the fabric when removed. On canvas and denim, those holes are minimal and often close with a light press. On leather and faux leather, holes remain visible. We explain this before any work begins so there are no surprises.

FAQ

Can I send in my own bag?

Yes. You can mail in your bag for customization.

Can I use my own patches?

Yes. You may provide your own patches or choose from available BagJunki patches.

How long does it take?

Most custom patch orders are completed within 10–20 business days after the bag and patches are received.

Are patches removable?

Sewn patches can be removed, but the process leaves small needle holes in the fabric. On canvas and denim, holes are minimal. On leather or faux leather, holes remain visible. We treat every job as permanent placement — please review your layout approval carefully before we begin.

Do you accept all bags?

Most fabric, denim, canvas, nylon, and soft-sided bags are accepted. Leather and faux leather are reviewed case-by-case due to permanent needle holes. Hard-sided bags cannot be sewn through. See the Material Compatibility Guide above or contact us before sending your bag.

Will sewing through leather damage it?

Sewing through leather and faux leather is possible, but every needle penetration leaves a permanent mark. We assess your bag's material and thickness before accepting it. If you have a leather bag, message us with photos first so we can confirm before you ship it.

Do you use adhesive or iron-on?

No. Every patch is sewn on with thread — no heat, no glue. This gives a more durable and professional result.
